Position Summary

The Aircraft Painter II works under minimum supervision to safely prepare, paint, and detail aircraft according to schedule using company quality standards and operating procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2 years in related paint processes
  • Aircraft industry experience preferred
  • Valid Driver's License required

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Safely Prepare, Paint, and Detail Aircraft: Safely perform aircraft preparation, painting, and detailing of aircraft under minimal supervision.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures: Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as dual-action sanders, hydraulic lift platforms, and paint sprayers.
  • Handle Hazardous Materials: Follow standard operating procedures when using sealants, paint strippers, and corrosion-preventive chemicals, and use protective equipment as required.
  • Comply with Safety Rules: Comply with safety rules and procedures, and be alert for unsafe conditions.
  • Use Material Tracking System: Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off work.
  • Assist with Aircraft Movement: Assist with aircraft movement in hangars.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement: Offer continuous improvement ideas and participate in continuous improvement activities.

Other Requirements

  • Language Skills: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Tool and Equipment Skills: Able to use tools and equipment associated with the aircraft painting process.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Respirator Certification: Able to pass Pulmonary Function Test to obtain respirator certification.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
  • Computer Literacy: Must be computer literate.
  • Paint Process Knowledge: Working knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, and acrylics) is necessary.

  • Uniform Requirements: Purchase uniforms from designated supplier (CINTAS).
  • Interim Attire: Wear navy-blue shirt/t-shirt and blue work pants/shorts (no denim) prior to receiving uniforms.

  • 2 Face masks (in case the mask mandate returns)
  • Safety Shoes: Steel-toed shoes required for job duties.
