Job Summary
Under direct supervision, learn and perform basic skills and functions related to fabrication of aircraft cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using design and engineering drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn entry-level technical skills and knowledge, regulatory requirements, and tooling used in aircraft cabinetmaking.
- Develop proficiency in preparation and making of furniture using standard safety and operating procedures, design/engineering drawings, tools, and materials.
- Utilize the material tracking system to create parts demand, track squawks, and sign-off completed work.
- Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, use personal protective equipment, and ensure aircraft interior is protected.
- Assist in the development and implementation of related initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Woodworking, wood finishing, or auto body and painting experience in a technical environment preferred.
- Completion of Technical Certificate in cabinet making or youth apprenticeship program in area of expertise preferred.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
- Must be computer literate
Unique Requirements
- Furniture or cabinet making experience preferred, working with hardwoods, veneers, and/or plastic laminate.
- Availability to work various shifts, including 1st, 2nd, and weekend shifts, with flexibility to assist in other shifts as needed.
